Even with a determined Los Angeles Lakers team against them, the Denver Nuggets still came out on top to win Game 2. Of course, this is all possible because of Jamal Murray’s shocking game-winning shot that sealed the win against the LeBron James-led squad.
During the second game of the series, the Nuggets went home with the 101-99 win over Los Angeles. Nikola Jokic made jaws drop when he posted an insane triple-double of 27 points, 20 rebounds, and 10 assists. Michael Porter Jr. put aside his brothers’ problems and contributed 22 points and nine rebounds. Murray, meanwhile, dropped 20 points, including the final shot that sealed the victory for Mile High City.
After enduring a Game 1 loss, the Lakers entered this contest with the goal of finally defeating Denver. This can be seen in Anthony Davis’s crazy performance of 32 points, 11 rebounds, and two assists. James, for his part, dropped 26 points, eight rebounds, and 12 assists. D’Angelo Russell came out with a better performance than he did in Game 1 by finishing the contest with 23 points and six assists.
Murray’s heroics extended Denver’s winning streak against the Lakers to 10 games. More importantly, his shot gave the Nuggets a 2-0 lead over the LeBron James-led team and push them closer to elimination.
Denver Nuggets Star Jamal Murray Shares What Fueled His Game-Winning Shot Against the Los Angeles Lakers
After the game, Murray spoke to reporters and shared his thoughts on how his victory-clinching shot came to be. In a video shared by Joel Rush on X:
“I told my teammates when I was struggling, I’m gonna look for y’all. And every single one of them told me to keep shooting. Even when I was throwing up that bullshit floater.”

In the 39 minutes Murray played in Game 2, the Nuggets’ point guard only connected 37 percent of his shots from the field and missed all of his attempts from beyond the arc. Nevertheless, his final shot of the game more than made up for his bad shooting night against Los Angeles.
With the Nuggets firmly in the driver’s seat, they now have the chance to close out James and the Lakers faster than expected. If things go well, Denver may find itself advancing to the second round, especially with momentum on their side right now.
