The Golden State Warriors officially clinched a Play-In spot on Sunday even before their game against the Utah Jazz tipped off. This was thanks to the Houston Rockets losing out to Lukas Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks.
The Rockets are now mathematically out of Play-In contention after this loss, which has granted the Dubs automatic passage to the next phase of the season. Unsurprisingly, Warriors fans could not help but go full savage on the Rockets after Sunday’s heartbreak.
Rockets Fall to Mavs in Thriller
Houston’s clash against Dallas went down the wire. In fact, the two teams needed an extra period to determine a winner. Dillon Brooks stepped up in a major way, going off for 29 points on 9-of-14 shooting. He did all he could on the defensive side of the ball as well, but he just couldn’t hold down Luka Doncic, who exploded for 37 points.
Despite Doncic’s offensive eruption, however, it was Kyrie Irving who led the charge in this one, scoring a season-high 48 points on 15-of-25 from the floor. The Mavs secured the win in overtime, 147-136.
The Rockets have now lost five in a row and are no longer in contention for a spot in the Play-In Tournament.
Golden State Warriors Fans Clown Rockets
In case you forgot, Rockets stud Tari Eason called out the Warriors last week as Houston was hot on Golden State’s trail for the 10th and final Play-In spot. Dubs fans certainly haven’t forgotten about Eason’s “come out to play” taunt, and they have now decided to throw it back to his and the Rockets’ face:

Talk about rubbing salt in Houston’s wounds, right?
