The Golden State Warriors took another stumble on Monday night, as they failed anew to establish consistency with a 119-112 loss at home to Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks. As it stands, the Warriors have lost five of their last eight games and are back down to the 10th spot in the Western Conference standings, with the Los Angeles Lakers winning on the same night.
After hosting the Knicks, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was asked by a reporter during the postgame press conference about his thoughts on takeaways from the loss.
Reporter: “ What do you make of a start like this in a game at this point of the season with the stakes as high as they are? What do you make from that? What do you take away from that? ”
Kerr: “Well, it’s I don’t think it’s a lack of effort. I think it’s, you know, just, you know, we weren’t good enough. That simple. You know, we just did not play well enough. And, you know, we, it’s disappointing because, you know,”

The Golden State Warriors Continue To Be In a Precarious Spot In The West

The loss to the Knicks combined with the Lakers’ win over the Atlanta Hawks on Monday meant that Golden State is back to the last Play-in Tournament spot in the Western Conference standings. They are also just three games in front of the Houston Rockets, who are on the outside looking in. With 15 games left to play in the regular season for the Warriors, the need to collect wins in bunches is getting more amplified.
Golden State will look to prevent another painful loss this Wednesday when they return to Chase Center to host the Memphis Grizzlies.
