Despite a tenth-seed in the Western Conference, Steve Kerr is still confident that the Golden State Warriors can still make the playoffs this year. This claim by the former Chicago Bulls’ star comes after a loss at the hands of Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks.
In that game, Dallas pulled of a 109-99 win against the Dubs. Luka Doncic’s record-breaking streak of putting up a triple-double has ended with the guard posting 21 points, three rebounds, and nine assists. Kyrie Irving had a big night by dropping 23 points, eight rebounds, and 10 assists.
The Warriors, meanwhile, were led by Jonathan Kuminga with 27 points and Andrew Wiggin’s 17 points. Klay Thompson had an off-night with only eight points and 28 percent success rate from deep against the Mavericks.
Golden State’s loss to Dallas has dropped their record to 34-30, which translates to the 10th seed in the Western Conference. The Mavericks are in the eight spot with 37 wins and 28 losses.
Golden State Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr Remains Confident Dubs Will Make The Playoffs
After the game, Kerr spoke to reporters and remained optimistic about the Dubs’ chances of making the playoffs. The Warriors head coach shared more in an article by Michael Wagaman for NBC Sports:
“The season, it really is a marathon,” Kerr told reporters in Dallas. “I still have no doubt that this team can get on a great run and make a good push.”
It should be remembered that All-Star point guard Stephen Curry has missed the past few games to an injury to his right ankle. Kerr expects that two-time MVP to be back in the coming days. Also, Draymond Green was also absent due to lower back soreness.
The coming weeks will be crucial for the Warriors, as every win will take closer to the playoffs. On the other hand, enduring a string of possible losses can end their season faster than they expected.
