LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers saw their two-game winning streak come to an end on Wednesday night as they suffered a 120-107 loss against the Sacramento Kings. This defeat also had a bit more sting after the Kings successfully swept the season series against their Pacific Division rivals, 4-0.
LeBron did all he could to lift the Lakers in this one, but ultimately, his 18-point, 13-rebounds, nine-assist near-triple-double was all for nothing.
LeBron James Reacts to Tough Loss Vs. Kings
After the game, a disappointed LeBron spoke to reporters to discuss the loss. The NBA’s all-time leading scorer could not deny the fact that the Kings have them all figured out:
“Offensively, we just couldn’t get it going and they did,” he said. via Lakers Nation. “Really good team, they have our number this year, for sure.”
De’Aaron Fox (21 points, seven assists) had another big game, and he got a lot of help from the likes of Harrison Barnes (23 points, seven triples) and Keegan Murray (19 points, 11 rebounds). As James said, the Kings just had it going on in this one.
Anthony Davis Goes 0-10 Vs. Domantas Sabonis
It was Domantas Sabonis who arguably had the best performance for Sacramento, though. The 27-year-old dropped 17 points, 19 rebounds, and 10 assists in another impressive performance.
While the Lakers now have a 0-4 record against Sacramento this season, Anthony Davis’ personal record against Sabonis is far worse. AD just lost his 10th straight game against Sabonis on Wednesday. They have gone toe-to-toe just 10 times in throughout their respective careers.
After going 0-10 against the Kings star. Davis just had to give Sabonis his flowers:
“He’s a physical player. Just try to match his physicality, make him try to take a lot of tough shots,” Davis said. “… Offensively, we try to limit him getting offensive rebounds. But he’s an All-Star, has been an All-Star. He’s a great player.”
The season series may be over but it’s very much possible that the Lakers face off against the Kings in the Play-In tournament with the teams ranked ninth and sixth, respectively, in the West at the moment.
