The Los Angeles Clippers entered Sunday’s home game as the favorites to secure a win against an undermanned Philadelphia 76ers side that did not have the services of reigning MVP Joel Embiid. The Sixers, however, are no pushovers and they showed from the get-go that they weren’t going to let a powerhouse Clippers team bully them around.
Philly kept their foot on the gas after their 41-point first quarter and they eventually came out on top, 121-107 — much to the displeasure of Clippers head coach Ty Lue.
Ty Lue Calls Out Los Angeles Clippers After ‘Embarrassing’ Loss to 76ers
Lue was in an understandably foul mood after the game. The veteran coach did not hold back as he provided a brutally honest assessment of his team’s performance against Philadelphia:
“It’s embarrassing when you lose to teams like this,” he said, via Farbod Esnaashari of SI.
Don’t get him wrong. This is not a jab at the Sixers and their abilities (or at least I don’t think it is). Coach Lue was merely pointing out that his Clippers should have won this game against a Philly team that had previously lost seven out of its last 10 games with Embiid sidelined.
LA will need to be much better than they were on Sunday when they return to action on Monday on a second night of a back-to-back set against Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers.
