Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James turned a lot of heads after coming out with arguably one of his best performances of the season on Wednesday night. The 20-time All-Star led his team to a highly impressive come-from-behind victory against their fierce rivals, the Los Angeles Clippers, in what turned out to be quite a spectacle.
So much so, that even Lakers big man Anthony Davis could not help but gawk at LeBron’s heroic performance.
Los Angeles Lakers Star Anthony Davis Reacts to LeBron James’ Wild Night
Davis wasn’t bad against the Clippers at all, finishing with a 20-point, 12-rebound double-double in the marquee win. However, there’s no denying that it was LeBron who deserved to grab all the headlines after leading the Lakers to an astounding 19-point comeback in the fourth quarter.
After the victory, Davis revealed just how James’ heroics left him in awe:
“I was off the floor when he went through his little stretch, I was on the floor when he was doing his passes,” Davis said, via Corey Hansford of Lakers Nation. “But I’ve been around him long enough, played with him long enough to see and be on the floor when he’s had those moments, He is who he is. He’s a phenomenal basketball player and he makes a ton of plays for our team. So to witness it from the sideline tonight, it was definitely a fanboy moment.”
LeBron capped off his memorable performance with 34 points on 7-of-12 shooting from beyond the arc, with six rebounds, eight assists, and two blocks in 37 minutes of play. Once again, King James proved that he’s unlike any other 39-year-old you will ever come across.
Massive Victory for the Lakers
This was a crucial win for the Lakers, who were in danger of losing their third game in the last four. They now improve to 32-28 as they continue to battle it out in an extremely tight Western Conference race:
“Just a big win for us,” Davis added. “There’s teams ahead of us and we’re trying to climb up in the standings so didn’t want to lose two in a row. Sometimes you sit on the bench and you get to witness greatness and be a fan. And that’s what it was for a lot of us tonight. I know I was watching just being a fan of what he was able to do, Bron.
“But then just the team as well, how great they were playing to start the fourth quarter. Me and (Austin Reaves) were about to sub in and we told Coach to let him rock, let them go. Then when Bron got a little tired and threw that turnover and it was a time, we were like alright, it’s time to get back in. But you definitely become a fan.”
As Davis said, LeBron is still human and he still gets tired. He will be carrying the load for this team, but he will need all the help they can get if the Lakers want to reach their ultimate objective this season.
