The Milwaukee Bucks are currently in one of their worst stretches this season. The fact that they have lost four in a row and are in danger of losing the No. 2 seed to the Orlando Magic (currently just one game behind them) is a clear testament to this fact.
Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo believes that it is tantamount for his squad to get themselves out of this slump as soon as they can, and he is adamant that the only way they can do this is if they recapture the kind of form that allowed them to establish themselves as one of the top teams in the East.
Giannis Antetokounmpo Believes Milwaukee Bucks Have Lost Their Joy
Giannis isn’t just talking about Milwaukee’s play over the past few games. The former back-to-back MVP firmly believes that this slump also has a lot to do with the type of attitude the Bucks have carried of late:
“When was the last time Malik did…” Antetokounmpo asked before acting out teammate Malik Beasley’s trademark 3-point shimmy celebration, via Eric Nehm and Shams Charania of The Athletic.
“When was the last time Pat hit a 3 and did…” Antetokounmpo asked before signaling a 3 and wiping it across his chest as Connaughton does after hitting a big shot from deep.
“When was the last time Jae hit a 3, went back and he swags back like…” Antetokounmpo asked as he pretended to backpedal down the floor like Jae Crowder.
“When was the last time I dunked on somebody and went ‘Ahhhhhh!,’” Antetokounmpo asked as he pretended to yell at an imaginary, sold-out home crowd after a huge dunk.
“It’s almost like we’re going through the motions,” Antetokounmpo said. “We gotta find our joy back.”
Physical and mental fatigue could be one of the culprits here. The Bucks have done extremely well in holding on to the No. 2 seed in the East throughout the season despite the road bumps they have had to go through, and this could now be taking a toll on them.
Now is not the time to lose touch with their goals. As Antetokounmpo said, it is crucial that his team are able to recapture the hunger and the passion they have been playing with this season.
Simply put, failing to do so could lead to disastrous results for Milwaukee and their title hopes.
