Buckle in ladies and gentlemen. Today’s NBA uniform ranking has way less matchups than yesterday with only five. And those matchups are of significantly lower quality. We also have a weird scenario with tonight’s TNT game between the Pacers and the Celtics, so let’s start the list with that. As always, all images come courtesy of Lockervision unless otherwise stated.
Incomplete-Pacers at Celtics
You may notice that this isn’t the typical image I put for the game. That’s because the exact matchup for this game hasn’t been finalized. We do know the Pacers will be in their city jerseys, so that already handicaps this game from being super highly ranked. The Celtics’ worst uniform in my opinion is their city jersey, and we obviously can’t have both teams in black, so let’s hope the Celtics walk out in either their association or their icon jerseys. If they do that, this game will effectively slot in at number three, but if they wear their city jerseys, you can put this game at number four.
4-Raptors at Bulls
You can also go ahead and call this game the fifth-ranked game. No matter what Boston wears for their game, it won’t be worse than this. I know these Raptors jerseys have become sort of iconic after the Raptors won a title in them in 2019, but I’ve never really loved them. We all know what they should be wearing, so everything else just feels inferior. And we haven’t even begun talking about one of the worst jerseys in the NBA this season. I still have no clue what Chicago was thinking with these. This is one of the teams that brought out sleeved jerseys in the 2010’s, and they still managed to outdo those with the least inspired design imaginable. Truly an awful looking game.
3-Lakers at Hawks
From awful, we transition to just meh. That’s what you get when you average out a great uniform with a bad one. The Lakers’ yellow jerseys are always great in any era, but it’s the Hawks holding this game back. Who thought lowercase Times New Roman was the way to go for the font? And I can appreciate a good color vs color game, but this almost puts me to sleep. If Atlanta really wanted to wear black, this game would be competing for the number one spot if the Hawks were wearing their statement jerseys. As it stands, it’s right in the middle where it should be.
2-Jazz at Knicks
This feels wrong to rank in the top two, but you see what I’m working with today. The Jazz, in theory, should only be in contention for the top of these rankings when wearing either of their purple jerseys. But, matched up against the Knicks and their fairly underrated set, this game kind of works. It’s not going to top any year-end best-looking games list, but it is perfectly fine for what it is. It gets a C+ from me.
1-76ers at Warriors
Now that you’ve seen the five games, was there ever a doubt? Philly gets the top spot for a second day in a row by wearing one of my favorite uniforms in the NBA. And when Golden State is the worst looking team in the matchup, you know you have a banger on your hands. Whether or not Joel Embiid makes his return to the court tonight, take solace in the fact that tonight’s TNT nightcap is one of the best-looking games of the season.
