It is no secret who is the biggest threat — literally and figuratively — to the NC State Wolfpack’s chances of winning the Final Four matchup against the Purdue Boilermakers. Standing at 7-4 and with a frame that’s nearly 300 pounds, Boilermakers big man Zach Edey is expected to be the focal point of the Boilermakers against NC State, which is on a surprising run in the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
However, the NC State Wolfpack are going to let Edey’s presence discourage them. They have some big bodies to throw at Edey and make him work on both ends of the floor.
NC State Wolfpack Big Man Mohamed Diarra Expresses Confidence Amid Looming Zach Edey Challenge
Diarra, a 6-10 senior forward, will have his hands full in the Final Four, as he will be among the busiest in trying to slow down Edey. He knows Edey is going to be a problem, but he also believes the Wolfpack have what it takes to pull off a stunning upset.
Via Mike DeCourcy of The Sporting News:
“I don’t have a doubt about him or Purdue,” Diarra said. “We’re going to face somebody in front of us. We’re going to play the same way we played Duke … I know Purdue is a big team, ranked No. 1, but it doesn’t matter for us because we are a great team, too.”
Apart from Diarra, the Wolfpack also have March Madness darling DJ Burns, a bulky 6-9 forward who has also been dominating in the tournament.
The Wolfpack and the Boilermakers are scheduled to face off this Saturday, with the winner advancing to the national championship game.
