The New Orleans Pelicans may have just seen their playoff hopes get flushed down the drain on Thursday night. This is after All-Star swingman Brandon Ingram had to be helped off the court by his teammates following a nasty-looking injury against the Orlando Magic.
Unfortunately, this could be a major injury for Ingram.
New Orleans Pelicans Star Brandon Ingram Writhing in Pain After Knee Injury
Ingram suffered the injury early in the second half of Thursday’s showdown against the Magic. It appears that his left knee just buckled as he was attempting to defend Orlando guard Jalen Suggs on a drive to the basket:

You can clearly see how much pain Ingram was in as he was screaming and wincing while lying on the ground.
Ingram was eventually able to get to his feet, but he needed to be helped by two of his teammates as he exited the playing court:

As pointed out by the broadcast, the silver lining here is that Ingram was able to put some weight on the left knee. That has to be a good sign.
As of writing, the Pelicans have yet to provide an update on Ingram’s status, but it’s very unlikely that he will be able to return to this game. The 26-year-old will definitely get tests done to determine this injury, which Pelicans fans will be hoping isn’t all that serious.
New Orleans entered Thursday’s game with a 42-26 record and is currently fifth in the Western Conference.
UPDATE: Ingram has been ruled out for the remainder of the game:
