New York Knicks fans are a pretty passionate bunch. This is exactly why it comes as no surprise that the celebrations went well into the night after their victory in Game 1 of their NBA Playoffs showdown against Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday.
In fact, some supporters got so hyped up that they decided to burn down an Embiid jersey right in the middle of their frantic celebrations after their 111-104 win in the series opener.
New York Knicks News: Fans Torch Joel Embiid Jersey
To say that Knicks fans were delighted about Saturday’s win would be a massive understatement. The crowds outside Madison Square Garden seemed like they were celebrating in a championship parade after their team drew first blood in their opening-round series against the Sixers.
Some supporters went a tad overboard:

Why isn’t this surprising behavior among Knicks fans?
Thankfully for them, their squad was able to back up all the supporters’ antics with their collective performance in Game 1. Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart scored 22 points apiece in the win, with Miles McBride coming up big with 21 points off the bench.
This series resumes on Monday for Game 2 in MSG, and you can be sure that the fans are going to be back with a vengeance. Hopefully, there aren’t going to be any jersey-burning ceremonies in that one.
