Philadelphia 76ers head coach Nick Nurse said on Wednesday that there’s a “very good likelihood” that Joel Embiid will return to action before the regular season ends. The first-year Sixers coach was not able to provide a firm target date for the defending NBA Most Valuable Player, but what is clear is that Embiid’s return is imminent.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski has now seconded Nurse’s update as the renowned NBA guru provided a crucial update on Embiid’s current health status.
Philadelphia 76ers Star Joel Embiid’s Return Draws Optmistic Woj Bomb
Woj reported on Wednesday evening that Embiid is indeed close to getting back to full strength. In fact, Woj’s sources tell him that the Sixers superstar is expected to be back for a “handful of games” before the regular season ends:
“I’m told it is not a question of if but when,” Woj said. “The belief is with nine regular-season games left after tonight against the Clippers, that Joel Embiid can be back for a handful of those before the Playoffs. … I’m told that he is moving well. He has looked good on the court.”

Embiid, who is now out of contention for the NBA’s individual awards after failing to meet the minimum number of games played this season, has been out of action since January 30. The seven-time All-Star underwent surgery to repair the knee injury, and he has since been working extremely hard to get back to the court.
At this point, it appears that all the hard work is about to pay off for Embiid.
