It feels like San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama comes out with a historic performance every other game. Such is the privilege of having a generational talent finally blossom in the best league on the entire planet.
Wemby was up to his mind-blowing antics again on Sunday, leading the Spurs to an overtime victory over the Brooklyn Nets. Simply put, it was (another) performance for the ages from the 20-year-old.
San Antonio Spurs Rookie Victor Wembanyama Reaches New Heights Vs. Nets
Wembanyama had yet another stat-stuffing outing on Sunday against Brooklyn. The frontrunner for the Rookie of the Year amassed a game-high 33 points on 14-of-26 shooting, to go along with 15 rebounds, seven assists, and seven blocks (!).
As it turns out, no other player in the history of the NBA has put up this kind of numbers in the past:

This isn’t the first time the Spurs youngster has set some sort of NBA record either.
Wins have come far and few in between for San Antonio. This was just their 15th victory of the season as they lie dead last in the Western Conference. However, if Wembanyama keeps up at this rate, the Spurs are going to be a real threat in the not-so-distant future.
Gregg Popovich Sings Wembanyama’s Praises (Again)
Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich had nothing but high praise yet again for his young star. The 75-year-old has seen it all throughout his career, but even Coach Pop is adamant that Wembanyama is just something else:
“[Victor Wembanyama is] a multitalented young man,” Popovich said. “He’s going to show us things that none of us have ever seen before… The attention that he gets [makes] it a tough position for him to be in, but he handles it with class.”

Popovich could not have said it any better.
