With the Toronto Raptors looking to be willing sellers ahead of the trade deadline, Pascal Siakam found himself in a number of trade buzz in recent days. Despite that, though, Siakam couldn’t care less about all the talks.
Siakam has been mentioned in a lot of trade rumors in the past few weeks, though the talks intensified even more after the Raptors dealt OG Anunoby away to the New York Knicks. The Cameroon native is largely expected to be on the move next, and it definitely looked like something was going down last Friday.
The Sacramento Kings were reported to be “serious suitors” for Siakam, with the team reportedly interested in forming a Big 3 with him, De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis. Unfortunately, the talks quickly came crashing down, as Sac-Town decided to “pull out” of the discussions, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Despite the wild turn of events, however, Siakam was unbothered by all of it. After all, he’s not really looking at what’s happening behind the scenes, with his focus purely on doing his job and helping the Raptors win games.
“I don’t know anything, to be honest. I just came in today, obviously, we had a couple of good wins, so I just wanted to continue to build on that, and obviously it was a tough loss. We’ve just got to continue to build and continue to get back up and keep working,” Siakam said on Friday, per The Sacramento Bee.
“I don’t really pay attention to anything. I have people who work on that stuff. I play basketball. I’m a basketball player and that’s all I try to focus on.”
It remains to be seen what the Toronto Raptors will end up doing with Pascal Siakam. There’s still some time left before the February trade deadline, and it’s worth noting that the Sacramento Kings are not totally out yet in a potential pursuit for the two-time All-Star.
But until a trade goes down, don’t expect Siakam to change his routine.
Toronto Raptors Star Pascal Siakam Trade Rumors
For what it’s worth, the Sacramento Kings aren’t the only team linked to Pascal Siakam. With a number of teams looking for that key piece to help them contend for a championship, it’s not a surprise why the 29-year-old is such a hot commodity in the trade market.
The Dallas Mavericks, Atlanta Hawks and Indiana Pacers were recently mentioned as potential suitors. The Detroit Pistons have also been named as a likely pursuer.
Nonetheless, what’s most interesting is that the Golden State Warriors have been labeled as a potential “wild horse” for the high-scoring forward. Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report made the revelation on Friday, adding that the Dubs are a team to keep an eye on at the deadline.
“There’s a wild horse team out there that I’ve been told to look out for by rival executives…The Golden State Warriors… I do think ultimately, this will be the trade deadline where Pascal is eventually moved,” Haynes explained.
Whoever gets Siakam will definitely see their championship odds improve. For now, fans can only wait and see what happens at the deadline.
