Toronto Raptors superstar Scottie Barnes’ career year has taken a turn for the worse. This is after the first-time All-Star suffered a hand injury during Friday’s 120-105 loss against the Golden State Warriors.
Raptors fans’ worst fears may have just been realized after the team made a crucial announcement on Barnes’ injury on Monday.
Is Toronto Raptors Star Scottie Barnes Done for the Season?
You just knew that this was going to be a bad injury by the way Banres reacted. The 22-year-old tried to play through the pain, but he eventually had to leave the game for good.
It was later revealed that Barnes had suffered a “fracture to the third metacarpal bone of his left hand,” and that he was going to be out for an indefinite period (h/t Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports).
On Tuesday, the Raptors announced that Barnes had undergone surgery to repair the injury:

It’s great to hear that the procedure went on without a hitch. However, there is now significant fear that Barnes could be done for the season.
Toronto is currently 12th in the East with a 23-38 record, and while they might still have a shot at a Play-In spot, there’s no denying that they won’t be competing for a championship this year. This could ultimately influence the team’s decision with regard to a potential return to the court for Barnes this season.
The former Rookie of the Year has played all 60 games for Toronto thus far, putting up career-best averages 19.9 points on 47.5 percent shooting, 8.2 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game. He’s also knocking down 1.7 triples per contest on a 34.1-percent clip.
If Barnes has indeed played his final game of the season, there’s no doubt that he will be back stronger than ever in 2024-25.
