The highly anticipated 2024 WNBA Draft has arrived. The top women’s NCAA players in the country are now professional basketball players. Women’s basketball has made an impact this season because of the superstar NCAA players who played in the March Madness tournament. These players have changed women’s basketball with their energy, passion, and talented abilities to assist, score, and defend in the game of basketball. The NCAA tournament was nothing short of exciting, and I’m sure these ladies will make an impact professionally and grab the audience’s attention to watch them play.
The Selections of the 2024 WNBA Draft
The Indiana Fever had the first pick in the 2024 WNBA draft and to no surprise selected Caitlin Clark from Iowa. Caitlin Clark is the number 1 pick in the draft. She will bring a big impact on the Indiana Fever and try to turn around the franchise. The last playoff appearance for the Fever was in 2016. It has been 7 years since they competed for a championship. Caitlin Clark will hopefully change that and bring the energy, passion, defense and scoring to their game.
Following Caitlin Clark was Cameron Brink, who will be joining the LA Sparks after being selected second in the draft from Sanford. Also joining the LA Sparks is Rickea Jackson, as the LA Sparks had the number 2 and number 4 picks in the draft securing two of the top five prospects.
Which rookie duo would you build around? 🤔

Next, Kamilla Cardoso was selected to the Chicago Sky with the number 3 overall pick in the draft from South Carolina. South Carolina beat Iowa in the finals this past NCAA season. Camilla has the size and dominance to help the Chicago Sky, but she won’t be alone. Cardoso will also be accompanied by All-American, National Champion, and Player of the Year, Angel Reese. Reese was the 7th overall pick in the draft. She has made an impact on the game of basketball. Reports call her “Angel Relentless Reese” because of the style of play she has by never giving up and her ability to keep fighting in every game.
After the Chicago Sky and LA Spark picks, the Dallas Wings selected Jacy Sheldon with the fifth overall pick while the sixth pick, Aaliyah Edwards of UConn, was selected by the Washington Mystics.
The WNBA 2024 season will start May 14th and fans will have a chance to see their favorite former college players compete professionally against the best. It should be an exciting start to the new season this year with more hype than ever before. These ladies have already made history for women’s college basketball and hope to continue their success in the WNBA as they grow the popularity of the women’s game.
