The New Orleans Pelicans suffered their third straight loss on Wednesday night. This came in the form of a 117-108 home defeat at the hands of the Orlando Magic.
To say that this was another disappointing evening would be an understatement. A restatement to this fact is how no less than three Pelicans players were ejected from the game with just eight seconds remaining on the clock.
Bizarre Scenes in Ending of New Orleans Pelicans Vs. Orlando Magic
With exactly 7.4 seconds remaining in the game, Herb Jones and Trey Murphy got themselves tossed for complaining to the referee. The Magic were up 114-106 at that point, so the contest was already out of hand for the Pels.
Apparently, the refs weren’t done with their ejections. Dyson Daniels was then sent for an early shower in what turned out to be some bizarre scenes at the end of the game:

It is unclear what the three players had to say to the referee to warrant their respective ejections, but you can be sure that it did not sit well with the game official at all.
Whatever the case might be, New Orleans is now just 0.5 games ahead of the Sacramento Kings for the sixth and final guaranteed playoff spot in the West. The Pels need to wake up and get out of this funk unless they want to go through the Play-In Tournament in order to secure a playoff berth.

If you watched the game there is no mystery in what was said. The officials let Orlando play physical getting away with blatant fouls even getting away with what should have been a flagrant committed on Zion. Meanwhile the Pelicans were held in check by the officials with the slightest contact drawing the whistle. This in my opinion would be a case study on what is wrong with officiating in the NBA
