Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry recently battled New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu in a 3-Point Contest during last month’s All-Star Weekend. Turns out, the Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young wants the same showdown against Caitlin Clark.
Unlike the usual 3-Point Contest where several NBA All-Stars shoot it out to win, this particular showdown only had Curry go up against Clark. As it stands, the latter had to shoot three-pointers around two feet further than the line used in WNBA games.

Even if that’s the case, Clark showed off with a 26-point explosion from downtown. Not to be outdone, the Warriors star brushed the pressure aside to drain 29 points during his turn.
In the end, Curry bested Clark in a contest that featured their respective leagues’ best shooters. This showdown has been deemed the first of its kind as both NBA and WNBA stars faced off in this type of contest.
If Young had it his way, there would be a follow-up to that Curry-Caitlin showdown. This time, though, the Hawks star wants to face Caitlin Clark.

Young expressed that desire in an interview with Bleacher Report’s Taylor Rooks. Speaking before the reporter, the All-Star point guard made his case to have a contest between him and Clark.
“Of course I would. I’ve gotten to talk to her too throughout college years. We’re the only two people that ever led college in points and assists, like that’s a crazy stat. I mean I would, I’d have to definitely practice a lot more than I have for these previous three-point competitions, but I’d be ready for sure yeah I’d do it,” Young said.
In the six seasons Young has played in the NBA, the Hawks All-Star averaged 35 percent from downtown. Meanwhile, Clark has a better success rate by hitting 38 percent during her time playing for Iowa.

The next All-Star Game will be next year and there’s no guarantee both players will face off by then. In any case, that 3-Point Contest will be one for the ages.
