The Boston Celtics logged their 11th win in their last 13 games on Monday night as they took down the Charlotte Hornets, 118-104, at the Spectrum Center.
Jayson Tatum and the Celtics were able to rekindle an old flame in this one as well as they faced off against former teammate Grant Williams, who now plies his trade with the Hornets.
Boston Celtics Star Jayson Tatum Speaks Out on Grant Williams’ Smack Talk
Tatum torched the Hornets with 25 points on 9-of-19 shooting, to go along with 10 rebounds, four assists, two steals, a block, and four triples in 34 minutes of action. After the win, the Celtics star was asked to share his reaction to going up against Williams, as well as all the smack talk this entails:
“Grant always got some sh*t to say,” Tatum responded. “But I just say that’s my brother for life. It’s cool. I don’t talk trash at all but if it’s somebody I’m close with, like today with Grant, I like to have fun out there. It’s always good to see him, competing against him. So we just had some fun out there.”

It’s all love between these two. Tatum and Williams formed quite a bond during their four years together in Bean Town. This was until Williams decided to move on to the Dallas Mavericks this past summer as a free agent. The 6-foot-6 power forward then found himself landing in Charlotte after a mid-season trade.
Tatum and Williams actually shared an endearing moment right before tip-off. The friendship, however, was set aside as soon as the game started.
