Nikola Jokic is the gift that keeps on giving for the Denver Nuggets. Basketball is a team sport but he’s really the be-all and end-all of the reigning NBA champions, who just pulled off a 125-119 come-from-behind victory over the Toronto Raptors at home Monday night.
Nikola Jokic Drops Insane Stat Line Not Seen Since The Late 1970s During Denver Nuggets’ Thrilling Come-From-Behind Win Against The Toronto Raptors
Jokic was simply sensational for the Nuggets – just like always. Versus the Raptors, the two-time league Most Valuable Player dripped 35 points, grabbed 17 rebounds, and dished out 12 dimes. That’s not to mention that he had six steals and two blocks while shooting 14/26 from the field and 6/6 from the foul line. He did all that in just 38 minutes of action, turning the jets on in the second half in which he poured in 19 points.
A Jokic triple-double also works like a charm for the Denver Nuggets. The team rarely wastes a Jokic trip-dub. Also he became just the first player since the late 70s to muster the statistical masterpiece he painted against the Raptors, per @RealStatzman.
The @nuggets have now won 12 straight times when Nikola Jokić has a triple-double. He is just the 2nd NBA player ever to have a triple-double with 35+ points, 15+ rebounds and 6+ steals in a regulation game, joining George McGinnis on 2/8/76. Sabonis has 22, Jokić 21 this year.
Jokic, however, still got plenty of help from his teammates in the Raptors game, with Jamal Murray scoring 26 points and Michael Porter Jr. and Aaron Gordon chipping in 19 points apiece.
Thanks to another monster game from Jokic, the Nuggets have extended their win streak to three games. Over that stretch, the Serbian superstar has averaged 31.0 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 10.3 assists, while shooting 62.7 percent from the field.
