This weekend the clash of the Blue Bloods goes down If you are wondering what I mean by that take a look down below.
I mean the greatest rivalry in college basketball which is Duke vs North Carolina as they head to Chapel Hill to take on the North Carolina Tar Heels. Here is a Video down below to see some of the history between these two Rivals.
Who Leads the Duke vs UNC Series:
Heading into Saturdays, contest North Carolina holds a big advantage over Duke currently just because the way North Carolina is currently playing. North Carolina is currently 17-4 ( 9-1 in the ACC) and coming off a tough loss to Georgia Tech on Tuesday night and Duke currently sits at 16-4 ( 7-2 in the ACC) and coming off an impressive win against Virginia Tech on Monday night. Duke currently is a 1.5 game back from North Carolina in the ACC standings and this game has a big impact on standings.
What to expect from this huge game:
Matchup to lookout for in this game is RJ Davis vs Tyrese Proctor. Both of these players are playing at a high level offensively and defensively. RJ Davis is a leading candidate for Player of the year award because of the way he is playing. RJ Davis is averaging 21.5 Points per game, 3.7 Rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. Now
Tyrese Proctor is averaging 11.2 Points per game, 2.6 Rebounds per game and 3.9 assists per ratio. Tyrese’s stats might not be as high as they are because he was out a few games with a ankle injury earlier in the year which limited his play ability and now that he is back his stats are only going up.
What do I think will happen you might ask?
What I think will happen in this game is it will be a very competitive game not only from an offensive perspective but also a defensive side of the ball, because both teams are playing at a high rate offensively and defensively, but it might be a low scoring game compared to in previous years.
Now I will go into talking about some player stats besides RJ Davis and Tyrese Proctor some names to keep an eye out for also in this game on both Duke and North Carolina.
1. Kyle Filipowski- Duke ( 17.5 Points per game, 8.7 rebounds per game, and 2.9 assists per game). Filipowski is another player that is making his case for player of the year award as well because of what he has been able to do this season.
2. Jeremy Roach- Duke ( 13.9 Points per game, 2.3 rebounds per game, 3.1 assists per game). Roach has been having a decent year also he has dealt with some injuries himself that kept him out a game or two but nothing to worry about because he is the captain of the team.
Now lets talk some North Carolina players stats.
1. Armando Bacot- UNC ( 13.4 Points per game, 9.9 rebounds per game, 1.5 assists per game) lately Bacot has been kind of quiet on the scoring end but definitely is making his presence known on the defense side of the ball. I expect him to have a good game against Duke has he always shows up in big moments.
2. Harrison Ingram- UNC ( 12.1 points per game, 8.8 rebounds per game, 2.5 assists per game) The transfer from Stanford has been playing really good as of lately and been making some big time shots for the Tar Heels in clutch moments.
Who I think will win:
Now in this final part of the article I will do a segment on who I think will win this game. As a Duke fan I am going to say I believe that Duke can win this game if they do not let RJ Davis and Armando Bacot going if they can find a way to contain both of these players they have a really good shot at winning this game. I think Duke will win by 4.
Stay tuned for the latest updates on my articles I will eventually be doing NFL when Draft season comes around and also the combine.
