The Indiana Pacers are aiming to achieve a feat that has not been seen by this franchise for a decade. On Monday night against the New York Knicks, Indiana will be hoping to secure a win in the second round of the NBA Playoffs for the first time since they reached this stage in 2014.
The Pacers, however, might need to do it without their best player available. This is after Tyrese Haliburton was listed as questionable to play in Game 1 with a nagging back injury.
Indiana Pacers News: Tyrese Haliburton Questionable to Play in Game 1
The Pacers have already submitted their injury report for Game 1 in Madison Square Garden, and officially, Haliburton has been listed as questionable to play with lower back spasms.
While this isn’t the best news for Indiana, the silver lining here is that Haliburton has been dealing with the same injury for the past week or so. In fact, the 24-year-old was actually also listed as questionable to play in the Pacers’ series-clinching win against the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 6, but he was still able to put up a 17-point, 10-assist double-double in that close-out battle.
This only means that barring any unforeseen setbacks, Haliburton should be good to go in Game 1 on Monday night. This will be one of the most important games of his career to date, and you just know that the two-time All-Star is going to do everything he can to be ready to play.
How close he is going to be a hundred percent not only in Game 1 but throughout this series, however, is an altogether different question. It goes without saying that the Pacers will need Haliburton to be sensational for them to stand a chance against Jalen Brunson and the mighty Knicks.
