Los Angeles Lakers news: There were more than a few interesting bits in the debut episode of LeBron James’ new podcast with JJ Redick. On Tuesday, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer made headlines yet again with the launch of his new show, Mind the Game, which is expected to shake up the world of podcasting as we know it.
Unsurprisingly, LeBron and Redick just had to talk about Stephen Curry in their premier episode as they pair heaped praise on how the Golden State Warriors guard changed the game of basketball.
Los Angeles Lakers Star LeBron James Gives Stephen Curry His Flowers
We’ve all heard how Steph revolutionized basketball with his 3-point shot. While James agrees with this notion, the Lakers talisman pointed out that this wasn’t the only facet of the game Curry changed. According to LeBron, teams can no longer clear their benches with a 19-point lead in the fourth quarter these days:
“You can’t do that anymore. You know why? Because I believe in 08-09 or whenever that light-skinned f**ker came in the league, that’s in Golden State, he changed that whole narrative,” LeBron said. “He did. He singlehandedly changed the ‘no lead is safe.’ It’s like Pat Mahomes right now.”
I see no lies here.
James then went on to speak about Curry’s overall impact on the game — both on and off the court. According to LeBron, Steph, along with Hall of Famer Allen Iverson are the “biggest influential guys in our game since I’ve been watching and covering it.”
“They were guys that was not always counted on, they were small in stature and they just defied odds,” James said.
“… And now you have Steph who’s shooting over the Empire State Building. It’s just like those two are the two most influential, when you say the game, how they changed the game and the kids, those are two guys that you just want to watch every single night.”
Thankfully, we still have a few more iterations of LeBron vs. Curry on the court in the next couple of years before these two all-time greats call time on their illustrious careers. We all better relish these while we still can.
