Not only is Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James one of the most popular sports personalities on the planet today, but he also happens to be an extremely savvy businessman off the court. This is exactly why the four-time NBA champion has decided to venture into the highly lucrative world of sports podcasting, where he is set to team up with one of the most in-demand personalities in the industry.
According to Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, LeBron has agreed to partner with former NBA player JJ Redick to launch a new show entitled Mind the Game.

James and Redick are taking a bit of a different approach, though, with the show reportedly set to kick off without any corporate sponsors. Both want to make the program “as organic as possible” and aim to make the show “a pure conversation about basketball.”
“I’m really proud of what we’ve done to innovate in sports media,” James said in a statement to The Athletic. “… When I do a project, the only thing I think about is whether me and my friends would watch it. That is definitely the case with ‘Mind the Game.’ Everything doesn’t need to be designed for internet culture and clicks.”
According to Redick, who himself has a highly popular podcast named The Old Man & the Three, this new program hopes to go back to the roots, so to speak:
“It’s meant to be a very free-flowing conversation about the sport and about the game,” Redick said in a phone interview. “If you look at it in a very simplistic way, it’s just about basketball.”
Mind the Game will be a weekly show with the debut episode set to be released on Tuesday on YouTube and various podcast platforms.
