The Los Angeles Lakers are well on their way to securing a crucial blowout win against the New Orleans Pelicans on the final day of the regular season. This will allow LA to finish eighth in the West, thereby setting up a single-elimination Play-In matchup against the Pelicans (again) to determine the No. 7 seed in the conference.
Sunday’s contest may have ended in tragedy for the Lakers, though, after superstar big man Anthony Davis was forced to exit the game late in the fourth quarter.
Los Angeles Lakers News: Anthony Davis Suffers Apparent Back Injury Vs. Pelicans
The Lakers were already up big with a little more than five minutes remaining in the final frame. The game looked to be in the bag for them when Davis asked to be subbed out at that point in the contest. AD was seen limping to the sideline before asking to be taken out of the game:

Davis spent a bit of time on the bench after being subbed out. He then headed to the locker room with the team’s medical staff, which is an undeniably unwanted scene for LA fans at this point in the season:
Anthony Davis has gone back to the locker room for evaluation.

As of writing, there are no updates from the Lakers regarding Davis’ injury as of yet. We should get more information on the same during the post-game press conference, most likely from head coach Darvin Ham.
It goes without saying that now would be the worst time for Davis to suffer an injury that will potentiallt force him to spend time on the sidelines.
UPDATE: Per Dave McMenamin of ESPN, Davis appears to have suffered back/hip spasms:
The initial belief is Anthony Davis experienced hip and back spasms after being pushed in the air by Larry Nance Jr. and landing awkwardly, a source familiar with the situation told ESPN.
