It’s unknown if Jimmy Butler and Miami Heat are still looking for more help as they attempt to make it to the playoffs this 2023-24 season, but if they need a proven veteran who’s looking for a chance, John Wall is open to the idea of suiting up for the franchise.
In fact, the five-time All-Star is confident he can help the Heat amid their playoff bid.
John Wall Makes Miami Heat Pitch
During his latest appearance in The OGs show with former Heat players Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller, Wall responded to a question from an X user asking if he would be open to playing for Miami.
Wall, who has been without a team this 2023-24 since his stint with the Los Angeles Clippers last season, didn’t hesitate in saying that he’d be absolutely thrilled to join a franchise like the Heat led by Butler. The 33-year-old guard also expressed his belief that he can be an impactful player for the team.
“1,000 percent. I talk about that all the time. You know what I mean? Just feel like I can help them a lot,” Wall claimed, first transcribed by Bleacher Report.
“I think getting [Terry Rozier] was a great piece for them…somebody that can make plays and pick ‘n roll for them, but even if I didn’t start, coming off the bench, I think I could be another person that can help them and impact them. Like me and UD talked about this plenty of times, and I work out with [Bam Adebayo] a lot, so…”
It will definitely be interesting to see if the Heat will give Wall a call and see how he fits with the current roster. Miami has been inconsistent so far, with some ugly losses here and there. So, it might not be a bad idea to look outside for extra help–even with 10-day contracts.
Nonetheless, with Rozier in the fold and Miami seemingly already set with the roster they have been building throughout the season, it might be hard to add another variable now.
Can John Wall Help the Miami Heat?
For what it’s worth, John Wall is not lying when he said he feels he can assist the Miami Heat. While he’s no longer the same player he once was, Wall has proven over the past few years that he can be a solid contributor off the bench.
In the 34 games he played with the Clippers in the past campaign, he put up 11.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 5.2 assists on 40.8 percent shooting. He averaged 22.2 minutes per contest in a largely bench role, though he did star in three games for the team as well.
Injuries have really slowed down Wall, but he can still produce when given the chance. If not the Heat, maybe another team looking for a depth piece could consider the former superstar. After all, his experience could also be a valuable addition.
