At this point, the New York Knicks are just a game behind a potential second-place finish in the Eastern Conference. This is despite the fact that this team has had to endure major injuries to their most important players.
Julius Randle won’t return this season, while OG Anunoby just recently came back from a lengthy absence. Throughout the campaign, it has been Jalen Brunson who has been the driving force of the Knicks and their success. So much so, that the All-Star guard is now in the conversation for the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award.
New York Knicks News: Jalen Brunson Gets Brutally Honest on MVP Race
In a recent interview, Brunson was informed that he had climbed the MVP leaderboard as the Top 5 favorite to claim the coveted individual award. The Knicks star was then asked to comment on this considerable development, which prompted a brutally honest response from Brunson:
“Means nothing to me,” he said.

That’s ice cold.
Clearly, the individual honors don’t matter much for the 27-year-old. It’s not that he does not see the value in them but rather, his mindset is just fixed on doing everything he can to help his team win.
Brunson won’t be taking home the MVP title this year, but if he’s able to take his game even further next season then he might just have a shot. Not that he cares all that much, though.
