After missing 18 straight games for the New York Knicks due to a lingering elbow injury, OG Anunoby made his highly-anticipated return to action on March 12 in a 106-79 win against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Unfortunately, Anunoby suffered a setback with the same injury after just three games played (all of which were wins for New York) and is now expected to miss more time.
New York Knicks Coach Tom Thibodeau Reacts to OG Anunoby’s Injury
Anunoby missed the Knicks’ victory over the Golden State Warriors on Monday and he is now in danger of being forced to sit out again against the defending champs Denver Nuggets on Thursday. As a matter of fact, NBA guru Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported on Monday that it’s very much possible that Anunoby’s injury absence will extend to more than just one game:

Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau, however, remains adamant that the Knicks made the right decision in bringing Anunoby back when they did:
“You can’t work backwards. There’s many steps he had to go through. He met all the markers. He was cleared,” Thibodeau said, via Knicks beat reporter Fred Katz of The Athletic. “This is a possibility. Whenever you come back from surgery, this is what you’re looking at…We feel good about where he is.”
At this point, it likely won’t be determined if the Knicks practiced a lack of prudence in their decision to bring Anunoby back. What appears to be the case, however, is that they will be without one of their most important players (again) in such a crucial stretch of the season.
