After missing a big chunk of games this season, Joel Embiid is back and he’s out to lift the Philadelphia 76ers to contention. Along the way, the All-Star big man has joined an elite club with the likes of Allen Iverson and Charles Barkley in it.
In a recent game, Embiid showed why he won MVP last year in a 116-96 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. In that contest, the All-Star center posted 30 points, 12 rebounds, and one assist in 22 minutes on the floor. Kelly Oubre Jr. added 17 points on 50 percent shooting from the field, while Tyrese Maxey had an off-night with only seven points and five assists.
The Grizzlies, on the other hand, had a big night from Scotty Pippen Jr. when he posted 24 points and five assists. Memphis rookie GG Jackson added 17 points and six rebounds, while Jordan Goodwin contributed 15 points and four rebounds.
The win helped Philadelphia stay in the Eastern Conference’s eighth-seed with 43 wins and 35 losses. Memphis, meanwhile, has plunged deeper in the standings with a 27-51 record after a season that saw the team play without All-Star guard Ja Morant.
Joel Embiid Joins Philadelphia 76ers Elite Club With Allen Iverson and Charles Barkley In It
After the game, Embiid’s 30 points was good enough for the All-Star center to be counted among the franchise’s best scorers. In a tweet by the 76ers’ official account on X:

Included is Hal Greer with 21,586 points scored during his 15 seasons in the league, Allen Iverson with 19,931 points, and Charles Barkley 14,184 points. Other names include Julius Erving, Dolph Schayes, and Billy Cunningham.
For his part, Embiid has amassed a total of 12,002 points in the eight seasons he has played in the NBA. If ever he stays healthy, there’s no reason for the 76ers star not to rise up more on this list.
