The UConn Huskies are obviously a big winner in the world sports Monday night, as they accomplished their mission to become the first team since the Florida Gators nearly two decades ago to win back-to-back March Madness titles. But another sports figure who must still be smiling ear to ear because of that UConn victory over the Purdue Boilermakers is former Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver Dez Bryant.
And here’s why:
Dez threw down big on UCONN to cover tonight 😳

Now, that’s what you call easy money.
UConn Huskies Demolish Purdue in the 2024 NCAA Touranment Championship Game
Bryant’s confidence in the Huskies paid off, literally. UConn did not just win, but they covered the spread as well, as they slammed the door on the Boilermakers in a 75-60 victory. The UConn Huskies only had a six-point lead at the half, but they pressed on the gas harder in the second half, as they clearly showed everyone why they are the best college team in the game today.
The Huskies did not leave much for their haters to pick on. They dominated the tournament from start to finish, beating all six opponents by an average of 23.3 points. The No. 1 Purdue was supposed to give the Huskies a tough test, but once UConn got going in the second half, it was just a matter of time before Hurley and company got crowned again for the second year in a row.
Tristen Newton scored 20 points against Purdue to lead all UConn scorers, while Stephon Castle generated 15 points. As a team, the Huskies shot 48.4 percent to just 44.4 percent for Purdue, who mostly relied on Zach Edey but failed to get ample scoring from the other guys.
