When it comes to female ballers, the biggest name out there right now is Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark. But even if she’s already signed to play for the WNBA, the former Iowa Hawkeyes star could have gotten a bigger bag by playing for Ice Cube’s BIG 3 league.
Before she made her mark playing college basketball for the Hawkeyes, Clark rose to the top of High Class and became the top prospect of 2020. While she initially committed to Notre Dame, the future Fever star went to Iowa and immediately made her mark as a freshman there.
A couple of years later, Clark would go on to break NBA legend Pete Maravich’s old record to become the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer. She would also lead the Hawkeyes through the most recent finals and dominated every opponent they faced in the tournament before that. Unfortunately, the Iowa star couldn’t get the job done against an undefeated South Carolina Gamecocks team and lost the championship to them.
Even if she didn’t bring the title home, there was still cause for celebration because Clark was selected by the Indiana Fever in this year’s WNBA Draft. After making a name in college basketball, she is now ready to shine as a pro when the said women’s league returns in a few weeks.
WNBA Star Caitlin Clark’s BIG 3 Crazy Contract Offer Revealed
Although Clark is already signed to the Fever, there was a time she could have played in Ice Cube’s BIG 3 league before the WNBA Draft. In an article posted by TMZ, BIG 3 co-founder Jeff Kwatinez revealed the details of the contract offered to the Indiana star:
“The entertainment exec explains the deal came with a $10 million salary over two years, a percentage of team ownership, half of merch revenue and a stake in a Big3 doc with a seven-figure advance — totaling a minimum of $15 million
On top of that, Kwatinetz says the offer included a guarantee Clark would be coached by two-time Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman.,” The TMZ article explained.
Even if Clark passed on playing for BIG 3, she is still set to make a lot of money. Just recently, Nike signed the Fever star to an endorsement deal worth $28 million. This contract will last eight years and a signature shoe is included in it.
Even though her WNBA contract won’t match BIG 3’s offer, Clark’s brand is worth a lot more when it comes to her endorsements. She is set to make her debut as a pro next month when Indiana faces the Dallas Wings on May 14.
