Anthony Edwards continues to make history with the Minnesota Timberwolves, and on Saturday, he achieved something that has never been done before in franchise history.
As Edwards propelled the Wolves to a massive demolition of the Utah Jazz, he also broke a record that was previously held by team legend Kevin Love.
Anthony Edwards Explodes in Minnesota Timberwolves’ Win
Edwards had an ankle scare during the battle with the Jazz, but not even that would stop him from anchoring the team offensively.
Ant-Man, in the absence of the injured Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert, carried the scoring load for the Timberwolves and registered 31 points to give his team the 119-100 win.
The 22-year-old was highly efficient as well, making 12 of his 20 shots for a 60.0 percent shooting clip. Edwards added 10 rebounds, five assists, three steals and three blocks for an all-around performance.
He got some help from Mike Conley and Naz Reid, who scored 25 and 22 points respectively. Nonetheless, it was clear the Timberwolves wouldn’t have won easily without Edwards–even if their opponents were missing their best players as well.
Anthony Edwards Makes Minnesota Timberwolves History
With his incredible performance, Anthony Edwards made history after he broke a record set by Kevin Love.
Edwards’ 30-point performance on Saturday night is actually his 26th of the season. This is now the most in Minnesota Timberwolves history, surpassing the 25 that Love hit back in the 2013-14 season.
Making things more amazing is that Edwards also own the third spot in the said list, having previously notched 24 30-point games last campaign.
Karl-Anthony Towns round out the Top 5 with 21 and 20 of such games in a season, which he did back in 2016-17 and 2018-19.
Considering that Edwards is just in his fourth year in the league, fans can expect to see him set more new records with the Timberwolves franchise in the years to come.
