The Atlanta Hawks would not be denied a win on Thursday night’s two-game NBA slate. They came into the contest as the underdogs against a powerhouse Boston Celtics side, who simply put, have been the most dominant squad in the entire league this season.
The Hawks knew what was at stake, though, and Dejounte Murray just had to make sure that they wouldn’t come home empty-handed.
Atlanta Hawks Star Dejount Murray Calls Game Vs. Celtics
Murray has had his fair share of game-winners through the years, and his heroics on Thursday will have to go down as another one for the books.
Murray had the ball in his hands with the Hawks down one and less than four seconds remaining in the game. He had All-Defense guard Jrue Holiday all over him too, which made his epic game-winner even more impressive:
How clutch is that?
To add insult to injury for Boston, this is the second time they’ve suffered defeat at the hands of a Trae Young-less Hawks side in the past four days. On Monday, they blew a 30-point lead to allow Atlanta to secure an unexpected 120-118 victory.
The Celtics’ heartbreak was compounded on Thursday with another brutal loss. At this point, I’m not sure if it hurts more to lose at the buzzer than to embarrassingly blow a 30-point margin.
