Atlanta Hawks news: After being out of action for nearly a month and a half due to a lingering finger injury, Trae Young will finally make his much-anticipated return to action on Thursday against the Charlotte Hornets.
This has been a long time coming, and the Hawks will finally get their All-Star guard back just in time for the upcoming Play-In Tournament.
Atlanta Hawks News: Trae Young Cleared to Play Vs. Hornets
The Hawks announced Young’s return to action via Twitter a couple of hours prior to tip-off:
An @emoryhealthcare update:
Trae Young (left fifth finger torn ligament): Available
De’Andre Hunter (rest): Out
Wesley Matthews (right hamstring soreness): Out
Dejounte Murray (right quad contusion): Out https://t.co/MbGpgviiyh— Atlanta Hawks (@ATLHawks) April 10, 2024
It is worth noting, however, that Young will be on a minutes restriction in his first game back since February 23. This was confirmed by head coach Quin Snyder, but he did not reveal how many minutes he intends to give his star point guard against Charlotte (h/t Brad Rowland of Locked on Hawks).
Young’s return comes at an opportune time for the Hawks as they prepare for the Play-In Tournament in the East. They will be facing the Chicago Bulls in the opening phase of the tournament, with the winner progressing to a do-or-die game for the No. 8 seed.
Including Wednesday’s contest against the Hornets, Atlanta has three more games remaining in the regular season, which gives Young just the right amount of time to be fully healthy (hopefully) for the Play-In.
