After going through a gauntlet of worthy competitors, the UConn Huskies have finally won back-to-back NCAA championships with Dan Hurley coaching the team. Among the many personalities who have given the coach his flowers is no other than Atlanta Hawks All-Star point guard Trae Young.
Just recently, the Huskies overcame a Purdue Boilermakers team led by Zach Edey with a 75-60 win. Tristen Newton led all UConn players in scoring when he dropped 20 points on 50 percent shooting from beyond the perimeter. Stephon Castle made 15 points, while both Cam Spencer and Donovan Clingan had 11 points each.

Purdue, on the other hand, had a big game from Edey when the big man posted 37 points and 10 rebounds in 39 minutes on the court. Braden Smith added 12 points and eight assists while shooting a horrible 33 percent from the field. Unfortunately, no one else in the lineup were able to score more than five points, leading to the Boilermakers’ loss to UConn.
The Huskies’ big win has become the culmination of their journey this year after winning the championship during the previous season. For Dan Hurley, though, it’s a testament to the culture of excellence and winning he has created for UConn.
Atlanta Hawks Star Trae Young Drops Massive Praise for Dan Hurley After UConn Huskies Win Title

After the game, Hurley was on the receiving end of numerous messages congratulating him for the Huskies’ win. Young was among them when he posted his appreciation for the UConn coach on his official X account:
“Dan Hurley gonna be considered one of the best to ever do it when his career is over,” Young tweeted.
Throughout the season, Hurley guided his team to reach a level of dominance against their opponents. This can be seen in one insane stat that showed the Huskies only trailed opposing teams for a total of 28 seconds in four NCAA games this year. That feat alone has proven UConn is the team to beat after winning the championship last year.

With Hurley going back-to-back this year, the pressure is on to make it three in a row. But if Young is to be believed, only the Huskies coach can make that feat possible. In any case, UConn’s performance this season is a clear testament to Hurley’s reputation as the one responsible for the program that allowed the team to win it all this season.
