The dust may slowly be settling on the Iowa Hawkeyes’ heartbreaking National Championship loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks on Sunday. However, the Caitlin Clark hype train continues to chug on at full steam.
Despite failing to capture an NCAA title in what was an iconic collegiate career for the Division I’s all-time leading scorer, there’s no denying that Clark has already made a considerable mark in women’s basketball in general — and she hasn’t even turned pro yet.
Iowa Hawkeyes News: Colin Cowherd Compares Caitlin Clark to Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods
One media personality who has been left in awe by what Clark has achieved thus far is Colin Cowherd. In a recent episode of his FS1 program, the renowned broadcaster spoke about his own experience involving the Hawkeyes superstar — one that proved just how much of an impact the 22-year-old has had throughout the country:
“Caitlin has the magic dust, and I don’t think you get it very often,” Cowherd said. “I think Michael [Jordan] had it, I think Tiger [Woods] had it.
“… I was flying back from Chicago. I was sitting there in the lounge. I looked over and every single person was on their phone watching [Clark]. … You don’t see that in the NBA playoffs.”

Michael Jordan is the GOAT of basketball, and you could argue the same case for Tiger Woods for golf. For Clark to draw these kinds of comparisons at this point in her career just speaks volumes of how much she’s taken the world of sports by storm.
Cowherd isn’t saying that Clark’s game has similarities to that of MJ’s, but the way she’s captivated the entire nation is just unheard of.
Well, according to Cowherd, he has seen this type of hype before, but this “magic dust” is exclusive to some of the most influential figures in the history of competitive sports. I guess Clark does fall into that category already.
