Even without Donovan Mitchell, the Cleveland Cavaliers are riding high as the NBA races toward the regular season’s conclusion. Turns out, the All-Star shooting guard was incredibly hyped up after his team defeated the Indiana Pacers.
During a recent game at the Grainbridge Fieldhouse, the Cavs outlasted Indiana and went home with the 108-103 win. Caris LeVert stepped up in Mitchell’s absence by posting 23 points, eight rebounds, and 11 assists. Jarrett Allen made 23 points and nine boards while Marcus Morris added 14 points, including the game-winning dagger that sealed the victory for Cleveland.
The Pacers, on the other hand, experienced an off-night from their All-Star, Tyrese Haliburton when he tallied only 14 points on 28 percent shooting from the field and 11 percent from beyond the arc. Pascal Siakam, meanwhile did his best to keep Indiana afloat by notching 19 points and 12 rebounds.
The win kept Cleveland in the Eastern Conference’s third seed with 43 wins and 25 losses during a period when Mitchell is still out due to injury. The Pacers are currently in seventh place with a 38-31 record.
Donovan Mitchell Shares Reaction to Cleveland Cavaliers’ Win Against the Indiana Pacers
The Cavs big win over Indiana, thanks to Marcus Morris’ dagger, was certainly enough reason for Cleveland to celebrate. As seen in a tweet by Donovan Mitchell on X, the All-Star shooting guard is definitely up in the clouds due to the said victory.
“CAVALANCHE!!!” Mitchell posted.
The Cavaliers are currently 17th in the NBA when it comes to offense while their defense is third among 30 teams in the league. Mitchell, meanwhile, has averaged 27.4 points on 46 percent shooting from the field, 5.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 1.8 steals over the course of 49 games for Cleveland this season.
With less than a month to go before the NBA enters the playoffs, teams around the league will be doing everything they can to grab a spot in the postseason. Expect the Cavaliers to push hard in the coming weeks to make a run toward the championship this year.
