Jonathan Kuminga hasn’t featured for the Golden State Warriors since March 26. The 21-year-old has been out of commission for over a week now as he continues to nurse a lingering knee injury.
Kuminga is sidelined again on Tuesday against Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks, but head coach Steve Kerr has now revealed when they expect the 6-foot-8 forward back in the lineup.
Golden State Warriors’ Jonathan Kuminga Set to Return
According to Kerr, the Warriors expect Kuminga to play on Thursday against the Houston Rockets. This comes via ESPN’s Kendra Andrews on Twitter:
“Jonathan Kuminga won’t play today, Kerr says. But he will be active in Houston on Thursday.
“Kuminga hasn’t done any work for the last week as he’s dealt with knee tendinitis. He’s feeling better, Kerr says, but the trainers wanted him to ramp up more before playing,” Andrews reported.
This is a significant development for the Dubs as they welcome their starting power forward back after four consecutive games on the shelf.
At this point, the Warriors need all the help they can get. They enter Tuesday’s contest against the Mavs with a slim two-game advantage over the Houston Rockets for the 10th and final Play-In spot in the Western Conference.
With just eight games remaining, every victory will count from here on out for Golden State as they look to keep their title hopes alive. Kuminga’s much-awaited return to the lineup will certainly help their cause.
