March Madness sensation Jack Gohlke couldn’t hide his pain after the Oakland Golden Grizzlies lost to the NC State Wolfpack in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
After Oakland upset Kentucky in their opener, there were high hopes that the Golden Grizzlies would be able to extend their Cinderella run and even reach the Sweet 16. Unfortunately for them, the Wolfpack proved to be too much and too deep for them to overcome.
Jack Gohlke Reacts To Oakland Golden Grizzlies’ NCAA Tournament Exit
While Gohlke is disappointed they aren’t able to move on to the next round, he’s actually more frustrated by the fact that his time with the team is over. He emphasized that the reason he wants to keep winning with Oakland is to get more opportunities to meet his teammates and make more history together.
“We really wanted to win today. I wanted to go to Dallas really bad. All the guys wanted to go to Dallas really bad, but I told them in the locker room, the thing I wanted the most really was to see everyone at practice on Monday. That’s the thing I’m going to miss the most is just seeing my guys every single day,” Gohlke shared, via March Madness on X.
Unfortunately for Gohlke, they won’t be able to see Monday together as a team. Now, Oakland moves on to the offseason, filled with questions on how they take the next step as some of their players like Gohlke take the next steps in their respective careers.
While Gohlke and the Golden Grizzlies lost, however, they didn’t go down without a fight. Similar to the spirited fight they showed in their Kentucky stunner, Oakland fought hard despite trailing for most of the game and even forced overtime.
The Wolfpack showed their depth in OT, outlasting the never-say-die Golden Grizzlies 79-73. But sure enough, Oakland can hold their heads high for that performance.
Gohlke himself finished with 22 points despite being tightly guarded all game long. He connected six triples on 17 attempts, while teammate Trey Townsend top-scored for them with 30.

Indeed, Gohlke has cemented his legacy in Oakland.
