The Los Angeles Clippers are on a slump. They have won just a game in their last five outings, and that stretch includes their embarrassing 110-93 defeat to the Atlanta Hawks at home on Sunday night.
The Clippers were coming off a 112-104 road loss to the New Orleans Pelicans last Friday when they also missed the services of James Harden because of a shoulder injury. However, Harden was able to return to action on Sunday to help the Clippers versus the shorthanded Hawks.
Paul George Questions The Los Angeles Clippers Mindset After Brutal Loss To The Hawks
Most people thought that the Clippers would be able to take care of business against Atlanta, which had Trae Young, Saddiq Bey, and Onyeka Okungwu sidelined with injuries.
Instead, the Clippers fell prey to Atlanta by a huge margin in front of LA’s home crowd. That loss was not a good look for the Clippers, with Paul George even questioning his team’s mentality after the game (h/t Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN).
Paul George said he doesn’t think the Clippers have an identity right now. “Collectively we need to have a little more pride.”
Hopefully for George and the rest of the Clippers, the loss to Atlanta would serve as the wake-up call LA needs to break out of a downtrend. George scored 26 points against the Hawks, while Kawhi Leonard paced LA with 28 points.
Harden only had nine points on 3/10 shooting from the field, as he could still be being bothered by the aforementioned shoulder issue.
The Clippers have a great chance to end their losing skid this Wednesday against the the lottery-bound Portland Trail Blazers followed by another game versus the same team in the same location on Friday.
