For a team aiming to make the playoffs this year, every win is a crucial one for LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the Los Angeles Lakers. But after falling to the Sacramento Kings recently, the All-Star duo got real and dropped the factors that led to the loss.
In that game, the Kings got a big 120-107 win over Los Angeles over at the Golden 1 Center. Harrison Barnes had a big night by leading Sacramento’s offense with 23 points, two rebounds, and two assists. De’Aaron Fox had 21 points and seven assists, while Domantas Sabonis filled the stat sheets up with 17 points, 19 rebounds, and 10 assists.
The Lakers, on the other hand saw LeBron James post 18 points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists. Anthony Davis went for a double-double by posting 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Austin Reaves led Los Angeles with 28 points on 58 percent shooting from downtown.
By the end of the game, the Lakers’s ninth-place record fell to 36-30. The Kings, meanwhile, are seventh in the Western Conference with 37 wins and 27 losses..
LeBron James, Anthony Davis Share Reasons Why The Los Angeles Lakers Lost Against The Sacramento Kings
After their loss to Sacramento, both James and Davis spoke to the media and laid out a couple of reasons why their team lost. According to the King, though, their offense wasn’t clicking against their opponents recently,
“”Offensively, we just couldn’t get it going and they did. Really good team, they have our number this year, for sure,” James said.
For his part, Davis points out several reasons why the Lakers lost.
“Any loss is frustrating, especially when you allow a team to beat you because of your mistakes. Turnovers, offensive rebounds, miscues on defense… we allowed a team to beat us,” Davis explained.
The Kings certainly had a better offensive rating of 127.4 than the Los Angeles’ 113.6. Furthermore Fox and company pulled 44 rebounds, as compared to the Lakers’ 38, giving them more possessions in the process and a bigger chance to win.
This loss further complicates the Lakers’ quest to reach the playoffs. Expect the LeBron James-led squad to turn the dial up in the coming weeks if they want to stay relevant in the Western Conference. Otherwise, it will be another disappointing finish to James’s season, which can lead the All-Star to walk away from the Purple and Gold.
