Every Los Angeles Lakers fan will tell you how important Kobe Bryant is to the team and the city. Not only did he elicit oohs and aahs from the crowd with his high-octane scoring, but he also brought a certain kind of confidence and intensity that could only be compared to one Michael Jordan.
As fans continue to miss the late Laker legend, his wife Vanessa continues to live up to his legacy through her ways. This time, Mrs. Bryant reached out to another beloved LA institution to celebrate the anniversary of her late husband’s final game.
Vanessa Bryant gifts Los Angeles Dodgers players with special shoes on anniversary of Kobe Bryant’s final game
The widow of Bryant reached out to the Los Angeles Dodgers to give them shoes on the day of the anniversary of her husband’s final game as a Laker.
The shoes she gave were a Dodgers edition of the Kobe 6’s worn by her daughter, Natalia, while throwing the first pitch last September.
The players and organization loved the gesture through a video the ball club shared, as reported by The Spun’s Daniel Bates:
“Nice. Alright. I’ll make sure to wear these every day,” Mookie Betts could be heard saying in the clip.
“Are these the Dodger ones?” second baseman Gavin Lux asked. “Oh, my God. Yo, I saw these on the internet the other day and I was like ‘I need these.’ These are so sick. Thank you, Vanessa. I love you.”
The team’s social media account also took to Twitter to thank Vanessa for her generous offering on Saturday night: “Mamba Forever. Thank you for the gift, Vanessa Bryant! Can’t wait to celebrate the anniversary of Kobe’s historic last game in style.”
Dodgers fans who are also avid Lakers fans might be on the lookout for the next couple of days as players might rock them throughout the season.
What Kobe Bryant meant to the Los Angeles Lakers and the NBA
Many will fight the heavens if it decided Kobe Bryant isn’t one of the best basketball players of all time. The confidence, skill, and obsession he had with basketball was something that many of his contemporaries couldn’t match.
This fact couldn’t be emphasized more during the final game of his career. Bryant did everything in his 60-point swan song as the Jazz couldn’t figure out how to stop him.
He’s such a good player that even his contemporaries are willing to get into fights with haters who claim he isn’t as good a basketball player as many claim him to be.
Kobe Bryant transformed the game for the better, and he was taken too soon. Fans will continue to mourn his loss for a long time.
