The Miami Heat just slid out of the top-six picture in the Eastern Conference standings after absorbing a 109-105 home loss to Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers Thursday night. However, they got some good news after the game, with Tyler Herro reportedly set to return to action. How soon? As soon as this Friday’s showdown against the deflated Houston Rockets.
Miami Heat Shooting Guard Tyler Herro Nearing Return
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Herro is with the Miami Heat for the upcoming three-game road trip that begins Friday versus the Rockets, who just saw their chances to make the postseason go up in flames after a loss on Thursday to Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.
There is optimism Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro – out since Feb. 23 with a foot injury – could return to the lineup on Friday vs. the Houston Rockets, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium . Herro traveled on team’s three-game trip to Houston, Indiana and Atlanta.
Herro has not seen action since late February because of a right foot medial tendinitis. If he’s healthy and able to play against the Rockets, it will be a terrific boost for the Miami Heat, who are just half a game outside the top six in the East.
On the season, Herro is averaging 20.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.4 assists, while shooting 39.9 percent from behind the arc. He might be a little rusty whenever he plays his first game back, but he should get his rhythm back eventually.
