If you ask any Minnesota Timberwolves fan what they love most about Anthony Edwards, you would probably get different answers.
Some may like his incredible basketball skills and IQ. Others may say it’s his off-court humor and charm. Others still would mention the confidence he brought to the Timberwolves after being drafted first in the 2020 NBA Draft.
One aspect of his confidence is his swagger when it comes to facing opposing players. He’s not shy about firing shots at other NBA superstars, even going far to claim that he’s the one who sent Kevin Durant home.
While this competitive fire only endears him to the fanbase, not everyone finds it as impressive.
Carmelo Anthony doesn’t know what to feel about Anthony Edwards’ cockiness with the Minnesota Timberwolves if he was still playing
If there’s any former player who knows what confidence can do to a player, it’s Carmelo Anthony. The former Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks star has shown supreme confidence against the best defenders in the league during his heyday.
In his most recent appearance at the Point Forward podcast, he talked about how he felt about Anthony Edwards’ braggadocio with the Wolves:
Melo says he would’ve been out for blood if Anthony Edwards treated him the same way he treated KD
“I would’ve been like ‘This n***a buggin! I don’t want to k*ll this lil n***a’” 😂😂😂

From a spectator’s perspective, he loves what Ant-Man is doing against the Suns. However, he pointed out that he would have done something to make Ant feel his presence if he was still playing.
“In a competitive way, I would’ve been out for blood,” Anthony explained. “Because I’m taking that as, what?… It’s just that it goes back to say you got to know how to put these pieces together.”
He also recognizes that Edwards and the Wolves are acting this way because they understand what the Suns were trying to do this season, but he wasn’t interested in granting their wishes.
“These young boys ain’t trying to hear that sh*t,” Anthony observed. “None of these young boys in this league is trying to hear that sh*t.”
Edwards has been phenomenal for Minnesota during the four games they played. He averaged 31.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 2.0 steals a game. If he continues playing this way the rest of the postseason, the NBA Finals is no longer a pipe dream for him or the Wolves.
