The Miami Heat got blown out by the Boston Celtics in their playoff series in Game 1 on Sunday. The Boston Celtics came with physicality and complete dominance over the Heat. The Heat are without Jimmy Butler now for the rest of the playoffs with a MCL sprain. The Celtics took great advantage over the Heat with Butler out.
The Boston Celtics Outscoring the Miami Heat
The Boston Celtics fed off the energy of their fans and were 44.9% for 3-point shooting tying a playoff franchise record. They attempted 49 3 -pointers and made 22 of them. The Heat struggled from downtown most the night and only made 6 of their 12 3-pointers in the 4th quarter.
Jayson Tatum’s triple double (23 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists) lead to Boston’s victory. The Celtics went on a 14-0 run at the start of the game. The Miami Heat could not catch up and never lead in the game and just kept falling behind. The Celtics beat the 114-94 at the end of the game.
Kendrick Perkins also had something to say about the Boston-Heat game playoff series:
Miami Heat look ahead to Game 2 against the Boston Celtics
The Heat are putting Game 1 behind and focusing on Game 2 against the Celtics. Its not looking very good for the Heat after their performance Sunday without star player Jimmy Butler.
According to Heat’s head coach Erik Spoelstra “Boston controlled this game from the tip,” he said. “They won the big muscle areas. Definitely won the 3-point line and the majority of the areas in between.”
This game 1 was definitely different feeling than last season when the Heat played the Celtics. Jimmy Butlers absence was felt for the Heat. The Celtics beat the Heat all 3 regular season games this season and are continuing their winning ways.
Game 2 between these two teams will be Wednesday night. The Heat will try to bounce back as a team against the Celtics and tie up the series. The Heat do no want to go down 2 games to 0 going back to Miami because they can get swept by the Celtics in their own arena if they drop the next 2 games at home after Wednesdays matchup.
Tempers flared towards the end of the game Sunday with Caleb Martin upending Tatum for a rebound in the 4th quarter. If Miami can keep their composure and give all they have without Jimmy Butler they might have a chance Wednesday but the odds are slim.
