It has been quite a March Madness for NC State. Both the men’s and women’s NC State Wolfpack squads are still alive in their respective tournaments. On Sunday, the Np. 3 NC State women’s team upset the No. 1 Texas Longhorns in the Elite Eight round, 78-66. On the same day, DJ Burns and the Wolfpack men’s unit brought down No. 4 Duke Devils, also in the regional finals portion of the Big Dance.
NC State Wolfpack Basketball Makes History

For the first time in school history, the NC State Wolfpack have both their men’s and women’s teams going into the national semifinals round with either of them seeded 10th or lower, according to OptaSTATS:
The Wolfpack of @NCState is just the second school to send both its Men’s and Women’s teams to the Final Four in the same season with at least one of the teams being a double-digit seed, after Syracuse did so in 2016 (Men’s team – 10 Seed).

Burns and the men’s team of NC State looked out of form toward the end of the regular season when the Wolfpack lost four games in a row. But something clicked for them in the ACC Tournament, as they reeled in five consecutive victories to win the conference title and an auto-bid to March Madness.

The No. 3 NC State Wolfpack women’s team, on the other hand, came just a win short of winning the ACC tourney title, as it lost to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the finals. However, that’s all behind NC State now, as it is still alive in the women’s bracket following the win over Texas. They are scheduled to face the No. 1 South Carolina Gamecocks in the Final Four round on Thursday. Burns and company, meanwhile, will take on the No. 1 Purdue Boilermakers this coming Saturday.
