Mitchell Robinson suited up for the New York Knicks on Monday as they took down the Indiana Pacers in Game 1 of their second-round playoff matchup. As it turns out, however, that was the final game of Robinson’s season now that he’s been diagnosed with a significant ankle injury.
This is an undeniably brutal blow for the Knicks and their title hopes now that they’ve lost another key player for the remainder of the postseason.
New York Knicks News: Mitchell Robinson Out for 6 to 8 Weeks
NBA guru Shams Charania was one of the first to break the devastating news on Tuesday evening:
Knicks say Mitchell Robinson sustained a stress injury to his left ankle and will be re-evaluated in 6 to 8 weeks.

The blows just keep on coming for the Knicks, who also lost All-Star forward Julius Randle earlier this season due to a shoulder injury. Now, New York will have no other choice but to soldier on with an even more depleted frontcourt.
Robinson, who played 12 minutes in New York’s 121-117 Game 1 victory against the Pacers, was initially listed as out for Game 2 due to left ankle injury management. It is unclear as to how the issue quickly developed into a season-ending injury for the 26-year-old. It’s possible that Robinson re-aggravated the injury in Game 1 after opting to play through it.
For what it’s worth, the NBA Finals is scheduled for June 6 to 23, which means that the tail end of that series falls right at Robinson’s six-week mark. However, even if the Knicks actually make it to the Finals, it is very unlikely that Robinson will be available to return by then.
