If people thought that the Boston Celtics would unleash hell on Dejounte Murray and the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday after the Eastern Conference powerhouse suffered an embarrassing loss to the same team the night before, then they were all proven wrong.
And it oooonly took Murray 44 shots from the field to help the Hawks take down the Celtics again, 123-122.
Dejounte Murray Goes Trigger-Happy in Wild Atlanta Hawks Win vs. Boston Celtics
Murray did not shy away from pulling the trigger over and over again on offense against the Celtics. He was definitely inefficient from the field, going just 18/44 overall while also getting just two attempts from the free throw line. But at the end of the day, he nailed the most important bucket for the Hawks.

Murray can also say that he had a Kobe-esque performance — sort of.
Via StatMuse:
“Dejounte Murray scored 44 points on 44 shots tonight. That’s the fewest points on at least that many shots since Kobe Bryant in 2002.”
Murray’s heroics came just days after the Hawks overcame a 30-point Celtics lead to score an improbable 120-118 win at home. In that game, Murray dropped 30 points on 8/22 shooting.
The Hawks’ latest win against the Celtics was not just something for Atlanta to think about as a nice memory from a lost season. Atlanta is still very much in it to make the Play-in Tournament, as the Hawks are 10th in the Eastern Conference standings with a 34-39 record.
The Hawks, now on a four-game win streak, will take on another tough challenge this Saturday versus the Milwaukee Bucks at home.
