Boston Celtics news: Sports betting in the NBA has garnered a lot of attention of late. Just recently Toronto Raptors forward Jontay Porter was the subject of a full-blown investigation for multiple irregularities connected to his own player props.
Celtics star Jayson Tatum himself is well aware of the dangers of betting, and he admits that he too has been affected by the people who are involved in what could be a very menacing hobby.
Boston Celtics Star Jayson Tatum Speaks Out on Sports Betting
In a recent interview, Tatum revealed that he isn’t immune from fans barking at him about their bets. The five-time All-Star admitted that he can’t help but get affected by all this:
“Fans yell s**t all the time, shoot one more three, get one more rebound, get 25 (points) before the half is over,” Tatum said. “… I guess I do feel bad when I don’t hit people’s parlays. I dont want to them lose money. But, you know, I just go out there and try to play the game.”

If a superstar of Tatum’s caliber has this type of unwanted exposure to sports betting, then you can only imagine how this affects other players in the league. There’s a lot of money involved here as well, and you have to say, the temptation to get involved in all this is all too real.
Surely, this is something the league has to keep a very close eye on.
